Steward – The Grand Café

Opening June 2018, The Grand Café is home to one of Edinburgh’s most magnificent Old Town venues. Set within the Scotsman’s former advertising hall, the spectacular double height space will seat one hundred and fifty covers across its spectacular ground floor and balcony, filled with light, character and beautiful period features.

Inspired by the ‘Grand Cafes’ of Europe, the new North Bridge venue promises a welcoming, relaxed drinking and dining experience to suit all tastes and occasions, juxtaposing a menu of modern food and drink with the authentic charm of its interior which dates back to 1905.

A fresh, light all day menu will take guests from early breakfasts, brunches and lunches through to afternoon teas and evening dining options – all created by Dundee-born MasterChef: The Professionals finalist Chris Niven, using ingredients sourced from a hand-picked selection of great Scottish producers.

We are on the lookout for an experienced Door Steward to come and join us working on a part time basis.

The Role:

As part of the security team, your role will include:

  • Monitoring and managing crowds and queues.
  • Dealing with conflict; restraining and escorting customers off of the premises if required.
  • Ensuring the safety of customers and staff at all times.

 

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A valid SIA Door Supervisor Badge and experience in a similar role.
  • Great communication and customer service skills with the ability to diffuse high tension situations.
  • Availability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends as per business needs.
